Ath-Grate is a rotary quern or a traditional hand mill used for grinding cereal grains into flour. It constitues of a set of disc shaped stones where the upper (mobile) stone or the muller/handstone is placed on top of a lower (stationary) stone called the bed stone.
The hulled grain is fed into the mill through a centrally located hole referred to as the eye. A smaller hole on the edge of the handstone holds the handle with which the quern is rotated.
